Andrew Wilson - Physiotherapist

Andrew Wilson

BAppSc (Physiotherapy), Member of the Australian Physiotherapy Association.

Andrew Wilson qualified in 1985. He has dedicated the majority of this time focusing on the musculoskeletal physiotherapy area. Andrew has a wealth of experience in sports injuries including having been a physiotherapist for the Socceroos. Andrew also enjoys treating lower back and neck problems, alleviating headache and joint pain.

Andrew's many years of experience and excellent assessment skills allow him to find the cause of problems accurately and quickly. He uses varied treatment techniques to alleviate pain and dysfunction. Andrew has trained in muscle energy techniques, craniosacral therapy, Mulligan techniques and many other modalities. Andrew has also trained in Clinical Pilates. He uses this knowledge to prescribe specific exercises to help his clients prevent a recurrence of pain and injury.

Andrew regularly undertakes further education to continually improve his level of care. He aims to find a solution to pain and dysfunction as quickly and effectively as possible. He prides himself on his reputation as a caring and highly skilled physiotherapist.

Lisa has been a physiotherapist for 20 years. Beginning her professional career in Royal North Shore Hospital gave her extensive exposure to the many facets of physiotherapy. Since 1993 Lisa has worked in private practice. Her expertise is in the area of lumbo-pelvic, upper back and neck pain, and headache. Lisa also enjoys treating dance injuries. Muscle energy and Mulligan techniques, trigger point therapy and massage are examples of the treatment techniques she uses in her very “hands on” style.

Since 1998 Lisa has trained extensively in the Pilates method. She is qualified in all four levels of Clinical Pilates, holds a Certificate IV in Pilates Instruction and a Diploma of Pilates Practice. Lisa lectures for Pilates International on the use of the Pilates when dealing with pain and injury, and on how to use the method to restore health and function. She is a also a certified pre- and post-natal Pilates Instructor.

Lisa uses the combination of her extensive physiotherapy experience and her Pilates training to accurately assess the muscular system and movement to determine the cause of her client’s pain and or injury.

Pain-free movement, healthy movement patterns and body resilience to re-injury are Lisa's goals for her clients.

 

Maria Acevedo  – Pilates Instructor

Maria Acevedo

Maria has trained with Pilates International, Sydney. She is a soccer player for the Terrigal Women’s Premier League and Coach of the Terrigal Women’s 18s team.

Maria has also participated in amateur dance including Jazz, Latin Hip Hop and Salsa from a young age.

Maria is a firm believer  in the Pilates method after experiencing the benefits first hand. In her pursuit of self-mastery in the Pilates method she decided to study and complete the Diploma in Pilates Instruction through Pilates International.

As an instructor, Maria is passionate about helping others achieve personal transformation and the sense of well being that Pilates has given her.

Trish Whitbread
